This year's Easter Egg present to Jens and myself was a season pass to Tivoli. The season has just started and our first outing was to see (mostly to hear) The Copenhagen Police Orchestra. Does that sound funny to you? It sounds a bit amateurish to me but let me tell you, it's very professional and sounds great. Last year the Orchestra performed in Australia and this summer they are to perfom in Canada.
Along with the Tivoli perfomance, there is always big fun included and a special guest singer. This year, the host of the performance was a well known entertainer/ celeberty. It was lots of fun and we enjoyed the concert very much.
During the break, we went out to strech our legs and snap a few pictures. I brought my camera with me this day to take pictures of tulips. But there were so few that were open and these are them. I will have to come again in a few days to continue my photographing.
Behind me, just off to the left, is the very famous Danish musician / composer H.C. Lumbye.
After the concert and under the stage in the concert hall, I took a peek into Europe's largest salt water aquarium. Can you see the fish?
The concert is over now and it's the following weekend. The beautiful spring time weather is continuing so we have decided to take advantage of it and put our Tivoli season pass to good use. Plus I want to take a few more pix of the Tivoli tulips. Last weekend when the concert was on, the tulips were still sleeping but the daffodils were wide awake and screaming with color.
Have you ever seen such small flowers? Look! They are smaller than a fingernail. That's my finger next to the flowers to give you some idea of the size.
The check is in the mail - and so is my hand. I've been chasing this run-a-way mail box all over town. I'm sure there is something of value from you to me inside and I'm trying to get it out.
While I am running all around the garden park, Jens sits on a bench in front of the concert hall enjoying the sun. Notice in these pictures that there are not any tulips in bloom yet. It's still a bit early.
Tivoli is making arrangements with Vestas and the Danish electric power company, Dong, to be energy indepedant. Vestas is the company that makes all the windmills that you see everywhere and this is what it looks like at the top - it's huge! This is of course just for display purposes. I'm sure Tivoli's windmill will be set out on the shorline to catch the wind.

And so now, it's the 3rd weekend and the sun and the heat is still going strong. It's was on the news and now it's official that this is the April with the most hours of sunshine and last friday was the hottest April day on record. So I thought I had better get my butt and camera back to Tivoli and snap a few pix before it's too late. Here are just a few of the many pix that I have snapped to share with you. A very very old merry-go-round and just behind it sticking up at the top of the merry-go-round is Tivoli's latest attraction which just opened for the first time only a few days ago. Click here to learn more about this hair raising ride. You wont get me on it.
In the background you can still see the windturbine on display and this week the airforce is also doing an infomercial.
Here is your typical "cup" style tulip but with candy like stripes.
They go on and on are so beautiful. These tulips are outlined with Pearl Hyacinth.
