My Olympic Moment in History

One evening back in 1984 when I was working at LA Litho the telephone rang. The boss picked up the phone and said, "Hello?" "Yeah, just a moment............. Moris, telephone!"
I get up from my desk, walk into the office and pick up the phone, "Hello?"
"Hi Eddie."
"Oh, hi George. What's up?"
"I just called to say you owe me $200."
"huh? what?"
"$200 - You owe me $200"
"$200!!! for What?!!"
"I just bought you a ticket for the opening ceremony of the Olympics."
" And it costs $200?!!"

I find it weird that somebody would just spend such a huge wad of cash on my behalf without me knowing about it and then after the fact demand the money from me - no questions asked. But this is not just anybody spending my money on an Olympic ticket. No! - this was George. And if there is anyone who knows where the entertainment is to be found, it's George. So for this reason and this reason only, I fork over the 200 smacks.

It turns out that the Russians at the last minute decided to boycott the Olympics. When George had heard this news, he ran out immediately and bought 2 tickets of the block of seats that suddenly were available. The seats were great (thank-you Russia). The opening show was wonderfully fantastic and worth every penny if not more.

To everyone’s surprise, taped to each seat was a plastic bag with the Olympic logo on it. Inside of the bag was a folded, colored plastic card. I still have mine and this is it:

On the plastic card printed in 4 different languages are directions telling you to hold the card on your lap. The announcer will count down 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1 and then you are to hold the card up as so....

.....directly under your nose.

Now watch the YouTube attachment and see what we did with the plastic cards. It was truly amazing.

That's me and George holding up the blue in the Venezuela flag or possibly the blue in the British flag.
